Applus are currently recruiting for a Senior Hydrogeologist for one of our clients operating a world class mining operation in Papua New Guinea
You will be responsible for all issues relating to groundwater and surface water management across the mining operation Water management is critical to the mine planning process to ensure a continuous ore feed is maintained and to keep mining activities on schedule
Key responsibilities will include
- Monitoring all water data database storage and the development and updating of groundwater models
- Development of site surface water management plans
- Management of surface water disposal
- Design of surface water control devices
- Working with mine planning engineers to ensure surface water management is included in overall mine design
- Day to day supervision of the horizontal depressurisation drilling contract
- Responsibility for the groundwater model and determination of instrumentation and depressurisation drill hole targets
- Planning & supervision of field contracts related to drainage works and slope remediation projects
To be considered for this opportunity you should possess the following qualifications and experiences
- University Degree in Earth Sciences or Engineering related discipline
- 5 - 10 years working in mining industry
- Excellent knowledge of groundwater & surface water management
- Experience in managing both hydrogeological and hydrological issues
This role will operate off a FIFO roster with flights back to Australia or New Zealand
