NRL Opportunity; Project Engineer- Papua New Guinea. Our client currently has a requirement for a Project Engineer/Manager to be based in Papua New Guinea on a staff basis. You will have a rotation of 6 weeks on and 2 weeks off with rotations provided to Australia/New Zealand. The roles offer an attractive salary and career progression, with the successful candidate eventually progressing to Project Manager on this Project. Applicants must be educated to Degree level or equivalent in Civil or Structural Engineering. You will have previously experience working as Project Engineer on Roads/ Bridges or similar Civil Projects. Previous experience in construction of gas, transport and marine infrastructure essential.

This position provides overall management of the PNG Production Laboratory and Production Chemistry operations. The Laboratory Supervisor plans, manages and supervises the activities of the laboratory and establishes chemical testing and quality control procedures under safety guidelines to ensure delivery of high quality results in a timely fashion to contribute to the optimization of operations.
Key responsibilities:
Managesthedailyactivitiesofthelaboratoryundersetplans,strategiesandbudgetsbyprioritizing and allocating work to achieve chemical testing objectives in order to supporttheoptimization ofoperations.
Ensures compliance to the laboratory’s Quality Management System (LQM) and otherLegalrequirements, including ensuring ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation is maintained and extendedtoinclude new testing where required by thebusiness.
Accountable for the quality of laboratory test results/reports, ensures appropriate testmethodsareemployed,establishesandutilizesarigorousqualitycontrolprogramandfullyinvestigates and resolves any testing problems ornon-conformances.
AccountablefortheoverallperformanceoftheProductionChemicalServiceandSupplycontract to ensure that products and services deliver optimal value to OilSearch.
Accountable for quality of process monitoring, production chemistry testing and production chemistry troubleshooting carried out by the laboratory team.
Provides technical input into new chemical treatment programs and otheroperationalprocedures and processes.
Accountable for the quality of laboratory tests results/reports, ensures appropriate test methods are employed, establishes and utilizes a rigorous quality control program and fully investigates and resolves any testing problems or non-conformance.
Provides technical support to the maintenance and improvement of laboratories throughoutOilSearchoperations
Researches, evaluates, recommends and leads the team to implement new test procedures to ensure continual improvement in laboratory processes and outputs.
Leads and develops a high performing team, managing, mentoring and coaching chemists to technical standards in order to maximize employee capability development, engagement and enablement.
Allocates and manages annual budgetary operating and capital expenses requirements for laboratory services and project planning. Monitors operations, capital and project expenditures.
Essential selection criteria:
BSc Chemistry or relatedsubject.
Proven experience at quality management in accreditedlab.
Demonstrated experience in achieving lab accreditation a clearadvantage.
Business exposure in a multicultural environment will be anadvantage
Basic Process and Production Chemical background anadvantage
Minimum 10 years oil field chemistry and / or accredited laboratory testing experience.
Experience in environmental watertesting.
5 years in supervisoryposition.
Ability to collaborate and communicate across a range of technicalabilities and experience levels in a multiculturalsetting.
