Morobe Mining JV are looking to attract a highly experienced Mine Superintendent to join the team at the Hidden Valley site. You will be reporting into the Operations and Technical ManagerIn this leadership role you will be responsible for the following duties:Establish and maintain standards and policies for the Mining DepartmentOversee the implementation of management initiatives and ensure appropriate alignment with strategy and the requirements of other departments.Provide all necessary internal and external reports on safety, operational and environmental performance, ensuring accuracy and timelinessParticipate as a key member of the Management Team to develop initiatives strategies standards and policies to ensure project implementation in accordance with the strategic business planPromote active participation of employees in identifying and reporting potential environmental hazards.Liaise with environmental and community relations staff regarding issues, incidents or non-compliance within the area of your responsibilityEnsure that all employees and contractors comply with the Environmental Management Plan and the company's community relations policiesMonitor cost variance and take action in a timely manner to ensure that quarterly and annual production targets are met within budgetary constraints.Monitor departmental expenditure for equipment, capital, repairs, consumables and travel.Ensure application of company policies with respect to these expenditures.Oversee and manage development of departmental budget consistent with company objectives and strategic plans.Manage the performance and development of the mining team, making recruitment decisions, applying performance management practices and implementing training programs.Ensure targets for progressive and nationalization of the workforce in accordance with the MOA are achieved.Encourage employees to investigate and trial new ideas, methods and technology, to ensure continuous improvement throughout the department.Lead decision making, whilst ensuring that employees are empowered to make decisions on issues within their competency.Monitor decision quality, checking for adherence to policies and standards, and coaching for improvement. Due to the meritocratic nature of our business, it is essential for the Mine Superintendent to have a patient attitude towards more junior members of the team. We are looking for someone who is willing to mentor and train the rest of the team. You will be a proactive leader who will take the team under their wing to ensure success for both the individual professionals as well as the business.This prerequisites for the successful candidate areExtensive experience in large scale open pit mining including senior supervisory and management roles.(Desirable) Appreciation for PNG culture and ability to speak Tokpisin.(Essential) Planning, analytical and problem solving skills.(Essential) Leadership, motivation of others.(Essential) Team building, recruitment, coaching and counselling.(Essential) Well developed written and oral communication skills.This role is a permanent position on a FIFO to PNG on a 16/12 roster .
