Wood is currently recruiting for Equipment Operators - Hydro Vac Unit with extensive experience to join our team in Hides Papua New Guinea on a Fly in Fly Out rotational schedule (28 days on 28 days off) Reporting directly to the Pipeline ROW Area Superintendent the role is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the Hydro-Vac equipment Previous experience with hydro-vac equipment essential potholing and service location & identification works involving Remote site Cross Country Pipelines experience required The successful candidate will operate Hydro Vac and other machines used in construction to excavate load dig or break rocks or debris dirt or other materials Responsibilities - Operates Hydro-Vac and equipment in a safe and professional manner
- Competently operates Hydro-Vac to and from job sites with Tracked Equipment (MOROOKA MULETRAX)
- Excavates with combination of pressure washer wand 6 and 8 dig tube and 4 suction line
- Follows specifications for the job and company policies
- Supervises activities of Hydro-Vac Laborers assigned to assist with excavation
- Provides leadership and task delegation to the Hydro-Vac Laborers through coaching and mentoring to ensure employee skill development
- Ensures all equipment and components are in good working condition at all times
- Properly maintain Hydro-Vac equipment
- Use proper PPE at all times and follows all Hydro-Vac procedures
Skills Qualifications
- Knowledge of pressure washers pumps pressure valves etc
- Knowledge of basic underground utilities
- Knowledge of proper equipment use conducive to weather conditions (heat cold and wind) and assignment
- Knowledge of Hazardous Materials and Safety Regulations and industry practices related to equipment use and operation
- Skills in operating heavy equipment and machines proficiently and safely
- Skills in daily maintenance of machines including repairs and inspecting equipment to identify possible problems
- Skills in use of Computer Laptop or other supporting devices commensurate with program and job applications
- Ability to use time and equipment efficiently in order to complete projects on time
- Ability to communicate effectively in a team environment
- Ability to handle stress and possess positive trait even in difficult or challenging situations
- Demonstrated strong commitment to safety
- Excellent work ethic - punctuality accuracy and attendance
